AbstractAbout the AuthorsReferences
Highways development is a key factor in the sustainability and development of timber industry. When designing and building forest roads, it is important to take into account terrain factors: soil type and humidity, relief, etc. In Russian practice, the season factor is especially important, since the trend towards seasonality of forest work and harvesting is not decreasing. The purpose of the work is to develop a software module for constructing scenarios for the development of the forest road network and routes for access to forest resources, taking into account the seasonal factor. The source materials of the work are open sets of spatial data presented in raster format. The developed software package makes it possible to predict the forest road network development based on the terrain factors, economic indicators, using scenario modeling techniques and roads seasonality. Software package was tested in the forested areas of the Nizhneniseysky forestry of the Krasnoyarsk Territory with the conclusion that the budget is the main factor in the development of forest road network. Software helps to create options of road lines and routes’ location, however, further results testing is needed at the regional timber industry enterprises.
