The utilization of FRAGSTAT metrics on the base of land cover maps is demonstrated in this work. Landscape ecology – actively developing the integral branch of science, which is intended to study the structural and functional organization of complex natural and social and natural systems and achieve the goal of sustainable development. At the final stage of illustrating the possibilities of landscape metrics Fragstats with specialized module Patch Analyst GIS package ArcGis 9.2. various indicators of landscape diversity of the region.
